It's Not My Fault, The Enemy Ninjas Did It!

Posted by SometimesNinja on 9:32 pm in , ,
What if I told you, right now, that I just spent the last forty-seven hours, thirteen minutes and twenty-two seconds fighting a mob of crazy ninjas who were attempting to take over the world through the use of excessively long sentences? That would be pretty cool. But so not true...

Anyways, so sorry that I haven't posted in a while. I have a long list of excuses for many occasions (if my teachers are reading this, no I didn't use them to get out of homework... much), but the one that seems to most apply here is the classic "I was busy".

On to Geekout of the Day! Well, not really "day", more of a Spontaneous Fit of Pop Culture Attack.

Pottermore- After all of the insane hype, the crazed predictions, the people who obsessively checked jkrowling.com every 30 seconds, Pottermore turns out to be... *insert entire orchestral fanfare here* an interactive e-book that doesn't open until October. Hot or Not? What do you think? I haven't quite made up my mind, maybe comments would help with that *subtle hinting*.

Bones is set to premier in September (Oooo, cliffhanger!), Breaking Dawn comes out on November 18, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 comes out July 15th (too amazing for words), Warehouse 13 comes out a few days before that on July 11th, and last but not least, Doctor Who with an unconfirmed September premiere.

Whew. So glad to get all that out, you wouldn't believe how hard it is for me to sit in a classroom for hours writing exams, without Wifi access (sarcastic gasp!). At least that's over now...

On a topic very much related to that, I would like to thank all of my friends and teachers for such an awesometastic year! I wish everybody a great summer, and will (hopefully) see you all in the fall. :)

I just realized this is probably the longest post yet! I'm trying to be consistent with my posting, but you know, there's this one little detail that keeps getting in the way- it's called "I have a NON-VIRTUAL life, too". With the entire summer open (and I got a new mobile blogging app- yay!), I'll be posting AT LEAST daily! Go summer holidays!

So, in fashionation/red carpet news, I LOVED Sienna Miller's dress, Jolie looked a bit gothic and Beyonce was over-rated (as usual). I would give Female Best Dressed to Cameron Diaz, and Hottest Guy to Brad Pitt (besides the fact that he was the only guy in any of fashionation's pics). Check out her blog for more info, and leave your comments on her site at fashionation.blogspot.com

Well I'm going to end here in case the enemy ninjas come back. I know they'll be here any second now, wouldn't want to lose my best why-i-didn't-blog excuse!

Zombies! and more insanity...

Posted by SometimesNinja on 4:24 pm in , ,
Best way to survive the zombie apocalypse? Use ninja skills to take 'em down. But if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

(If you can't beat or join them, you're DEAD. Good-bye in advance.)

So I went to this apocalypse party on May 21st. We waited and waited, allll afternoon. At exactly 6 PM, we crowded around the most likely zombie entry point (AKA the front door), each wielding a weapon of doom. (Ok, so we were only holding books and shoes, but still).

As the clock struck 6, the suspense built and finally... it crashed when we realized there were no zombies crashing down the front door.

But...

It turns out that the Zombie Prophesizer was just "mistaken". Until further notice, the end of the world has been postponed until October 21st.

Great. 5 months of horror-filled anticipation.

At least this gives me time to prepare! Check out my Plan A disguise below. Like I said, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

So... Pitchforks? Potato Guns? Phasers? Leave your zombie defense plans in the comments!

Llamas Invading Our Writing!!!

Posted by SometimesNinja on 11:07 pm in , ,
Wasabi guys! Sorry in advance if I don't get around to posting tomorrow. Big surprise: even part-time ninjas have to write Finals!!! I know, it's insanity right?

Ok, here's the geekout of the day. Today's is on Harry Potter!

On J K Rowling's official site, she has a page called "Pottermore: Coming Soon". The big Harry Potter fandom mystery at the moment is finding out exactly WHAT Pottermore is. Rowling's agent has confirmed that she will be releasing "something" entitled "Pottermore"- no further details were given (dum dum duuuum). So fellow Earth inhabitants, what do you think this mysterious "Pottermore" is? My best guess- the mysterious Harry Potter encyclopedia she's been talking about for like 3-4 years! Leave your guesstimates in the comment section below!

And lastly (but most epic-ly), check out this epic site I found: llamafont.com. It changes your TYPING into LLAMAS. I really don't think any further explanation is needed.

V 1.1! and EpicMonkey Catalogue #2...

Posted by SometimesNinja on 4:28 pm in , ,
SometimesNinja 1.1 is up and sneaking!

I fixed the bug that blocked readers from commenting, added a mobile version of the blog (viewable on most phones/ipods) and finished coding my template!Ok, so the changes aren't that major, but still, it's pretty cool. Self-taught HTML coding takes a long, looooong time. But when you're done, it feels like you've just conquered the world! Then you realize that the only thing you've done is change the color of one header...

And finally, a new monkey catalogue is out! Check it out below, please leave your comments in... the comments section!

Tapestry Dress

Posted by SometimesNinja on 6:13 pm in , ,
Yay! The first formal dress that I've ever sewn is finally finished *insert wild applause and insane cheering*. But first, I would like to make my acceptance speech.

Thanks to my friend, a long-time blogger and artist! Visit her blog at fashionation101.blogspot.com to check out her awesomeness. She designs many dresses (all over MY binders and the margins of MY paper), from which I take some inspiration when creating my designs.

This dress is made of medium-weight tapestry fabric that I found in my craft hoard, and champagne satin and ribbon that I bought at my local fabric store. Including all of the supplies that I purchased (fabric, thread, trim, ribbon) this dress was under $20 to create!

It's guaranteed one-of-a-kind: no patterns were harmed in the making of this outfit! I drew up a design, measured and cut the fabric, and sewed it to size.

Finally, the moment you've all been waiting for! Ladies, gentlemen and fellow ninjas, without further ado I present to you... The Tapestry Dress!

EpicMonkey: First Catalogue

Posted by SometimesNinja on 4:59 pm in , , ,
Hola, mes amigos! Behold the magic of Google Translate!

Jumping to an entirely unrelated topic, I own this awesometastic sock monkey sewing business on Etsy: epicmonkey101.etsy.com.

If you check it out, look under the Feedback or Sales tabs to see examples of my work because I do not currently have anything up for sale.

Anyways, since it's Blogging Season (summer, to all of you sane-type people) I will have plenty of time to sew monkeys! If you bookmark the Etsy shop and check back in a couple of weeks, I should have at least a few items.

Until then, here's the first edition of my new EpicMonkey catalogue. This one just showcases a few monkeys I've made. I'll publish lots of one page flyers, instead of one monstrosity that takes 10 hours to upload. Hope you love!

-Sometimes Ninja

P.S. The bride and groom monkeys are dedicated to my awesome teacher/coach. Thanks for everything!!!

Greeting, Earthlings

Posted by SometimesNinja on 11:20 pm
Ironically, I'm posting my first post on the last day of school. Summer is blogging season though, so I'll finally have plenty of time to work on all the projects I've been procrastinating about since last August! Now all I have to do is summon the willpower to put down the remote, stop watching Doctor Who reruns, and think creative-type thoughts.

Anyways, about me: well, I sew stuff. And glue stuff. I also cut, draw, iron, bead, imagine, design and, occasionally, purl. (The drawing part is questionable. Example: "Hey, SometimesNinja, I looooove that beautiful rock you're drawing!" "Yeah. Ok. It's actually a sunset." "Oh." 'Nuf said.)
Moving on...

CAUTION: I make pop culture *read: geeky* references. A lot. Way too much. But if you're reading this, you've
1) Decided to just Google it (Google has the answer to life, the universe and everything!)
2) Actually understand my quotes (highly doubtful, but I wait hopefully for the day) or
3) You read this, decided I'm insane, and went to back to doing whatever haters do when they aren't, ya know, hatin' on folk.

Well. I will be back tomorrow with a finished template and a real, non-introductory post. Please leave your comments/suggestions/constructive blackmailing in the comments box, which should be located somewhere on the blog.
